To Doodle or Not to Doodle
There is nothing new about doodling. People have probably been doodling since there was pen and paper, probably even since the early humans made marks with sticks and rocks in the dirt.
What is new is the focus on the benefits of doodling, and that has given rise to the art of doodling for relaxation, stress relief, creative inspiration and more. You may have heard of ZenTangle (r), which is a trademarked art form of doodling, you may have also heard of the more generic ZenDoodle.
Whatever you call it, you can do it. You don’t need a certified teacher to show you the ropes. In fact, I prefer a much simpler process to doodling than presented in the ZenTangle books. I prefer a focus on simple, knowable names of lines, forms, and shapes instead of some of the ZenTangle names that are off the wall enough to sound like a brand new pharmaceutical.
I call mine ZenDally Doodles, after my idea of ZenDally activities. ZenDally is the art of purposefully wasting time for enhanced creativity and well-being.
You don’t need to be “artistic” to do ZenDally* Doodle. All you need is a few basic supplies, and a willingness to learn. In no time, you’ll be creating your own amazing designs
Perfectionism Out The Window
I just mentioned that you don’t need to be artistic, but another thing – you don’t need to be perfect either. ZenDally Doodle is NOT about striving for perfection, getting your lines just right or your circles perfectly round. In ZenDally Doodle, a supposed mistake is an opportunity to do something different.
